The changes that have occurred as a result of COVID-19 have been difficult and stressful for everyone. From worrying about our family’s health to wondering if we will have a job tomorrow, each of us has been touched by the pandemic in one way or another. At Straight Talk Clinic, our team understands the variety of difficulties you are now facing as a direct result of the virus, as well as how these difficulties affect your mental health and well-being. Here are some of the ways our team is committing to our clients during this uncertain time.
Living Up to Our Mission
Since our inception in 1971, we have been dedicated to promoting help for under-served communities. At the time, the local community noticed an uptick in illicit drug use amongst children, and wanted to do something to fix the dangerous trends they saw. Four years later, Straight Talk Clinic was providing outpatient drug programs and rehab centers for families in the area. Since that time, we have been helping those who suffer from drug and alcohol abuse, as well as those who struggle with other mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, dual-diagnosis disorders, and those who suffer with chronic illnesses, such as AIDS. We believe that everyone is entitled to mental health care, substance abuse services, and rehabilitative services, regardless of social status or means. We serve communities where these services are often limited or restricted. COVID-19 has not changed our mission, and in fact, has only made us more committed to our local community and our clients.
Providing Vital Services
Though we have had to make some changes because of COVID-19, we still offer valuable counseling services. This includes teletherapy, which provides counseling in the safety of one’s own home, allowing the client to have a face-to-face video conference with a professional counselor. These services have been shown to be just as effective as in-person therapy sessions.
Here are some ways we have lived up to our mission by providing these crucial services during COVID-19.
Provided 700 total teletherapy sessions combined for both the Santa Ana and La Mirada Clinic.
Our therapy sessions serve over 23 Orange County and Los Angeles cities.
We continue to provide therapy sessions in both English and Spanish, for teens, individuals, and families.
We are still accepting new clients, as well as matching clients with therapists on a same-day basis.
We provide sliding scale services and discounted services for those facing financial hardships, especially during COVID-19.
We are still providing discounts for veterans and family members.
Though we know that it’s been a tough few months, our team at Straight Talk Clinic is here to help our clients transition through this time. We are proud that we are able to serve the mental health needs of the Orange County and Los Angeles community, and will continue to do whatever it takes to assist our clients.
