Carol Nash
Gerry House Program Director

Carol is a graduate of Cal State Hayward, in Northern CA with a Master’s of Science in Counseling Psychology. She has been working primarily in non-profit organizations since graduation in 1992. While in graduate school and for 9 years following she worked with assisting persons with disabilities with advocacy, skills teaching, coordinating student accommodations and counseling. Her experience teaching preschool and personal life experience with family and friends with both mental illness and substance abuse issues has lead to interest and work in the counseling field and eventually to working at Gerry House for over 10 years. Her skills and experience have often led to management roles instead of licensure and a single focus on providing therapy. She believes that success comes from providing a wide range of assistance using clinical therapy and the peer and 12-step models. She is happiest problem solving in a way that addresses client needs as a whole with an approach that provides teaching and role modeling. She believes the system is often broken and fails those most in need. Working in a management role provides a wide over all approach to problem solving that can address not just guiding those in need, but also looking at the delivery of assistance.
